A Snapchat story downloader returns the files a public Story is built from, not a re-recording of it. Photo Snaps come back as images and video Snaps as video, in whatever quality the account published. Can a Snapchat story downloader save private or expired Stories?
A Snapchat story downloader cannot save anything from a private account, a friends-only Story, or a Story whose live window has closed. Public visibility is not a licence. A Story you can open is still the work of whoever made it, and saving it does not transfer any right to repost, edit or sell it. Keep what you have permission to keep.
What the saved file actually is
Using it as a Snapchat video downloader
Video Snaps download by the same route as photo Snaps — LookSnap does not treat them differently, and there is no separate mode to find.
What you get back is the video file the account published, at its published resolution. It is not re-encoded on the way out, so a clip that went up in high quality comes down in high quality, and one that went up compressed cannot be improved by any tool including this one.
This covers video anywhere on a public profile: Story posts inside their live window, Spotlight clips, and Highlights the account pinned. It does not cover video Snaps sent to you in chat, which are never published to the web.
Downloading without a watermark
A Snap saved here carries no watermark, no logo, no branding frame and no re-encode, because nothing is added to the file on the way out. This site does not touch the video on the way through, so there is nothing of ours on it.
One thing worth being precise about, because the phrase "no watermark" gets used loosely. If the person who posted burned their own overlay into the Snap — a caption, a sticker, a Lens, their own mark — that is part of the picture, not a layer added afterwards. No downloader can remove it, and any tool claiming to is either cropping or re-encoding, both of which make the file worse.
What "no watermark" honestly means is: the file arrives exactly as published. It does not mean the published content can be stripped back to something cleaner.
Common questions
Will they know I downloaded their Story?
No. A browser download carries no account, so there is no handle to attribute the save to and nothing to put in a list. In-app screenshots are reported because the app knows which signed-in account took them. Snapchat also states that anyone who can see your content can potentially capture it.
Can I repost a Story I downloaded?
Not without permission. A Story you can open is still the work of whoever made it, and saving it transfers no right to repost, edit or sell it. Visibility and licence are different things.
How do I download a Snapchat story?
